Meet the Staff
Pastor: Dr. John Keller
Dr. Keller has served First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island for over 20 years and preaches directly from the Word of God, helping everyone to know the Lord better. He ministers to our local congregation, community and beyond the walls of our church.
Minister of Music and Education: Rev. Richard Wade
Richard Wade leads our music programs and coordinates all of our educational opportunities. He directs the Sanctuary and Handbell choirs and assists those leading the Children’s Choir. He also oversees all of our educational programs.
Minister of Family Ministries: Rev. Chuck Workman
Chuck Workman works with our middle and high school student s during Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. He also directs CORE, a once-a-month study for youth and their parents helping them to connect with one another better as they learn about the Lord’s will for their lives.
Director of Children’s Sunday School: Erika Rich
Eirka Smith Rich is an elementary school teacher on the island and is in charge of our Sunday morning Children's Sunday School ministry. She has attended First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island since she was a young girl and participated in a wide variety of programs while growing up in our church. Following college, she returned to our church and began using her gifts and talents to teach children in Sunday School and other church children's programs. Her wedding ceremony was recently held in our sanctuary.
Director of Business: Mary Hayes
Mary Hayes takes care of our church’s business plan and manages our finances. All questions regarding finance should be addressed to her.
Ministry Assistant: Lynda Hopkins
Lynda Hopkins has served as Ministry Assistant to our church for 22 years. She is the pastor’s secretary, assists church staff, and organizes special events.
Receptionist: Paulette Gardner
Paulette Gardner is usually the first voice that you hear when you call our church. She can help you with information about our church or direct you to the staff person. Contact Paulette to make your reservations for Wednesday Night Dinner and Special Events.
