How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. Psalm 119:9

Youth meet for Sunday School in the Youth Building on Sunday mornings at 10:15 AM. Teachers use Lifeway’s “The Gospel Project” curriculum to teach Bible lessons. Guests are always welcomed.
Youth in grades 6 – 12 meet for “High Tide” on Wednesday evenings from 6:20 – 7:45 PM in the Youth Building. High Tide is a time for fellowship and Bible study. Youth can enjoy hanging-out with their friends in their own space listening to music, playing pool, ping-pong and foos ball prior to Bible study. Guests are always welcomed. This is our traditional Wednesday Night Fellowship with a twist…due to busy schedules we are going to try something new. On Wednesday nights we will have a lesson every 30 minutes and with social time and leadership training in between. This way if you are busy early on or later on in the evening your child can still find a time where they can plug into Bible study within their busy schedule without feeling like they are interrupting.
Throw Back Thursday: If a student is unable to make it Wednesday night, we will now be offering fellowship time on Thursday mornings when Wednesday night lessons will be repeated at The Island Rec Center. Meet at the bleachers behind the Rec Center. Middle schoolers will meet at 6:45 AM and depart at 7:05 AM (walk or ride with parents) and high schoolers can meet at 7:40 AM-8:00 AM (walk, drive or ride with parents). A light breakfast snack will be served.
Hang 10 Guy Time: Hanging Ten is a surfing maneuver and is considered one of the most impressive and iconic stunts one can perform with a surfboard, but much more impressive is a life that is led by Christ. Middle School and High School guys will meet every other Saturday after the Morning Refresh Run at FBCHHI to develop spiritual support networks and to discuss how they can live a Christ-centered life in today’s world!
Girls’ Night Out: After relationships were built at Whisper Mountain, Samantha Neville and Shannon Bedenbaugh had it on their hearts to continue these relationships for our young ladies. This gathering will hopefully help these girls continue to build strong spiritual relationships that will help them through teen struggles. Topics from bullying, self-esteem, confidence, relationships, etc., making sure they are all centered in Christ, will be discussed. These evenings are also filled with some great social time for the girls! We will gather on the last Sunday of every month and rotate between homes. Mothers are always welcome, and please bring any other young ladies that are interested! We are always looking for speakers, topics, places to gather and treats, so if you would like to participate please let us know!
Core Parents’ Night Out: This is a Parents’ Night Out group that will meet the 1st and 3rd Sundays, 5:00 - 7:00 PM, in homes, and will focus on the CORE of the family, the parents. The first study will be “Ready to Launch,” by J.D. and Victoria Greear. We will be focusing on the study, but will also focus on building a supportive network to assist our parents in providing a strong family spiritual CORE in Christ. Child care will be provided, but R.S.V.P.’s are required to ensure that there is enough childcare for all children. We are always looking for speakers, topics, volunteers to bring food and volunteers for childcare, so if you would like to participate please let us know! Call the church office for who to call.
Our youth are active in a variety of mission projecst and appreciate the opportunity to serve and do so in various ways throughout the year. Examples of how they serve the church and community are serving plates in the kitchen at First Baptist, acting as waiters for the Valentine’s Banquet at church, baking cookies during the holiday season to spread joy through the community, and traveling to the Old Savannah Mission to feed the homeless by serving in the soup kitchen. There are also opportunities to serve others during youth camp by painting and repairing properties of those unable to help themselves. They are learning that to be Christ-like, you must be a servant and there are many opportunities that fulfill this need in their hearts.
The Morning Refresh Run: This will take place every other Saturday April - October at the church and will focus on family fellowship and taking care of our health with exercise. We will meet at the church at 8:00 AM sharp and walk or run the 3.5 mile loop around the church. Water and a healthy morning snack will be provided. Everyone is welcome!
5th Quarter Bonfire: FBCHHI will be hosting two bonfires and band/movie nights this fall after Friday night football games. Fellowship, food and entertainment will be provided in a safe environment for your youth!
Fall Retreat: This event will take place at FBCHHI on October 24-26. This is a sleepover retreat at the church and details are still being discussed. This will involve special guests from our Whisper Mountain trip and awesome fellowship after Friday football. The weekend will be highlighted by a concert Saturday night! Full details will be provided in future updates.
Each summer, our youth make plans to travel off campus, many times in another state, to attend a Christian camp that will allow them time to fellowship with youth from other areas, provide opportunities for them to grow spiritually and to reflect on their lives and how they can better live for the Lord.
